German Unity Day is a national holiday comemorating the reunification of Germany. It is a large festival that takes place in two locations at once. There is a traditional festival in Berlin every year and another located in a different city each year. The Holiday began only 19 years ago in 1990. The festival is actually coming up this weekend. It is always on October 3rd and this year it fall on a Saturday. When it was created it was going to take place on November 7th but in addition to the good things that happened on that date it was also the beginning of the Nazis fighting against the Jews.
