Christmas in Paris!

Here in Paris I personally love holidays. It's just a happy time when everyone comes together. My faborite holiday would have to be Noel. Noel is like Christmas and is on the same day, December 25th. Pere Noel is our Santa Clause and his helper Pre Fouettard pass out gifts and all kids put their shoes by the fire place, hoping that Pere Noel and Pre Fouettard will have left them gifts in the morning. So instead of hanging stockings, we put our shoes by the fireplace. My little sister, Gabrielle loves doing that. It's her favorite part of the holiday. For decorations we use a traditional Christmas Tree, garland which is usually silver and/or gold, crystal balls of different colors are added to the tree as well as silver or gold pinecones. For us our christmas season (Noel Season) starts on November 11th and ends January 6th. In this time we usually start preparing for Noel. We start thinking and preparing for the Noel dinner, make pastries, and start cleaning and decorating the house. A tradition of ours is making Buche de Nol. This is a Yule log shaped cake that we always make on St. Nicholas Eve. Joyeux Noel!
