Italy is really big on soccer and pretty much everyone plays or has played. Or at least all the people I know. Where I grew up and even where I live now the citites put tons of money into soccer. Making sure there are plenty of fields for inhabitants to play on. The comittees put money and time to make sure the fields have lights and are well tended to. You can drive by any soccer park or complex and there will always be a group big or small playing a game. Even I can remember getting up in the middle of the night and sneaking out and going to play with my friends. Soccer is a huge part of culture and is always something good to start off a conversation with.
