Pétanque

Bonjour! Today we played Pétanque. This is a French version of the game Boules. It is widely played throughout France by over 17 million people. There are about 375,000 in France licensed to the Fédération Française de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FFPJP). The game is played by 2, 4, or 6 people. The Ancient Greeks were recorded playing this game with small coins in early 6th century B.C. The Ancient Romans modified this game by adding the target that had to be approached as closely as possible. It was brought to Rome by sailors and soldiers.
