Cycling in the Netherlands

I have lived in the Netherlands for a month now, and everything is very different from the United States. For one thing, cycling is very popular in many areas in the Netherlands. I bought a bike a few weeks ago to join the trend. If you ever decide to take a walk around Amsterdam, or any other area in the Netherlands, you are bound to see many cyclists pass by. Its amazing how many bikes are in the Netherlands. I found out that 85% of the population own atleast one bike that is used on a regular basis.
The Netherlands can easily be considered a "green" country because cycling is a very common, and enviromentally-friendly, way to get around. This is pretty interesting: About 1.3 million new bicycles are sold each year. Also, there are about 16 million bicycles in Holland, which is slightly more than one bike per resident.
The Netherlands have plenty of parking areas for your bike, the hard part is finding a spot to put it . . .
